About Me

Oslo, Norway
Welcome to my blog! I am a wife and a Mommy of three. We have 2 daughters, Reagan and Hayden and a son, Grasyon. Here I write about our life happenings and try to capture memories the best I can. I hope this helps keep those close to us, in Texas, Iowa, Illinois, and beyond, a little more up to date while we're away. Enjoy!

Bye Bye Bassinet :(

This past weekend we finally did it, we took down Reagan's bassinet. She slept in our room and she loved her bed as much as we loved having her there. For the past month she has been sleeping in her big girl crib in her room, we just couldn't break down and move it out! So I finally convinced Darrin it was time, so we did. Here she is sitting in it waving bye bye for the last time! Our little girl is getting so big!

Happy Valentine's Day

Since Darrin had to work on Saturday, we celebrated our actual Valentine's day on Sunday. Reagan and I spent Friday & Saturday hanging out with my friend Tache before she left to go back to Brazil. Saturday night Darrin & I decided that we would probably enjoy the evening better if we stayed in for the night. Valentine's & Mothers Day are the restaurants two busiest days of the year, and well, as most of you parents know.....that does not make for a great evening with a little one! So we stayed in, cooked dinner and watched a movie. Oh I forgot to mention went to the grocery store, haha what a different way of spending Valenines day! It was GREAT no one was there, because they were all out on dates, and we had our date at the grocery store! Then Sunday we got up cooked breakfast, put on a pot roast and went to church. Reagan got tons of things for Valentines - books, toys, clothes, what can I say, we love to spoil her!

Hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day/Weekend!!

Relationships that Rock

I forgot to mention last week that the next few messages at church were on the topic of relationships. Yesterday we discussed 4 important things you must have in your relationship in order for it to be positive.

1. You must give an receive encouragement. Everyone needs to be encouraged, be on the same team.
2. Give and receive comfort. Comfort isn't fixing a problem, its listening and getting it. Understanding how the other person needs to be comforted and being there to listen.
3. Give and receive motivation. Motivate your partner to accomplish their goals, help them to become better, help them to succeed.
4. Give and receive help and ask for it. Healthy relationships are a give and take. Having to much pride to ask for help can weigh you down. Know how to help when your partner needs you and know how to help them.

Darrin and I were cracking up at the pastor today. He was discussing the difference between how a man and how a woman handle a situation. I think everyone in the service felt like he was talking to them! It is so true, Darrin handles everything the WRONG way and I handle it the RIGHT way!! I just have to work on making him see that!! :)

I love...

that I know how to make you laugh

that I can see both your Mommy & Daddy in you

your warmth when you first wake up

that I am starting to learn what your cries mean

watching you learn to eat solids

how you loose your eyes because you smile so big

how absolutely adorable you are after your bath and in your pjs

watching you try to sit up on your own, and then tip over!

that you how use your sweet little hands to hold on to me

when you lay your head on my shoulder because you are tired

watching you hold your bottle while looking at me

dressing you up, you are so pretty

I love watching you learn new things and grow. You are getting so big! Happy 6 months, we love you more and more everyday princess!

Happy 6 months Reagan!!!

Happy Half-Birthday Princess!! 6 months old today, I can't believe it! Your Mommy & Daddy love you VERY much, but please STOP growing SO fast!! Before you know it you will be one, then five, then thirteen, then eighten and I will wonder where the time went! I am so lucky to have such a precious little girl like you, I love you so much! Happy 6 Months!!

Time Flies By!

Tomorrow Reagan turns 6 months! I can't believe how fast time is going. I LOVE the stage she is in now, she is SO fun. People keep telling me that it just gets better and better. You think they are in the best stage until you get to the next one and its even better!

Every time I hear this song I get a lump in my throat. I love it, it's so true, each phase does fly by. Already I am forgetting how she was when we first brought her home. All the sleepless nights, her screaming because she was such a colicky baby, me not getting to take a bath or brush my teeth, not going out in public..... so maybe I haven't completely forgotten about it just yet! But I know as time goes by we will soon forget and then I will be dropping her off at Pre-School. (tear) I promise I am not this emotional ALL the time, just the past week, maybe its her ALREADY turning 6 months old!!

It Wont Be Like This For Long

He didn't have to wake up
He'd been up all night
Lying there in bed and listening
To his newborn baby cry
He makes a pot of coffee
He splashes water on his face
His wife gives him a kiss and says,
"It's gonna be okay"

"It won't be like this for long
One day we'll look back laughing
At the week we brought her home
This phase is gonna fly by
So baby, just hold on
It won't be like this for long"

Four years later, 'bout 4:30
She's crawling in their bed
And when he drops her off at pre-school
She's clinging to his leg
The teacher peels her off of him
He says, "What can I do?"
She says, "Now, don't you worry
This'll only last a week or two"

"It won't be like this for long
One day soon you'll drop her off
And she won't even know you're gone
This phase is gonna fly by
If you can just hold on
It won't be like this for long"

Someday soon she'll be a teenager
And at times, he'll think she hates him
And he'll walk her down the aisle
And raise her veil,
But right now she's up and cryin'
And the truth is that he don't mind
As he kisses her goodnight
And she says her prayers

He lays down there beside her
Till her eyes are finally closed
And just watching her it breaks his heart
'Cause he already knows

It won't be like this for long
One day soon that little girl is gonna be
All grown up and gone
And this phase is gonna fly by
So he's trying to hold on
It won't be like this for long
It won't be like this for long

I love Sundays

Today was the first time EVER we have left Reagan alone with anyone other than family. The past couple of times we debated on whether to take into church service with us or take her to the nursery. At our new church, that we love, they have these parent viewing rooms. They are in the back of the church and are enclosed areas that sit about 30 people on each side. You still feel involved, you are just more at ease knowing that your surrounded by parents and kids.

So today we did it, we dropped her off in the infant room. And although I didn't feel too emotional about doing it, I balled when it came time. I don't really know why! I guess I just felt a ton of emotions hit me at once. At that moment, I knew throughout my journey as a mother, I would have to learn to let go. To loosen my rains and let her grow.

I few times throughout the service I found myself asking Darrin, "should I go check on her......have you gotten a page....wonder how she is doing." But she did just fine. When it was time to pick her up she was sitting in the lap of one of the women working in there and just a smiling and playing. Today was a special Mommy moment for me, I just love my little princess so much!

Since I didn't have Reagan in service with us, I was able to pay a little more attention to the message. I want to try to start blogging on Sundays about what I received from the message that day. Today the pastor said if you are doing the same thing every day and not every changing or growing, you aren't growing as a Christian. I love the feeling after church. You just heard a wonderful message, you are incorporating it into your life and wanting to spread the message to others you know. Here are a few points I found the most important from today.
  • Joy and Peace are internal - Happiness and Calm are external
  • You must free yourself from your past so you can be at peace
  • Enemies of Joy and Peace: stress, noise, info overload, relationships, conflict
  • Coping with Enemies or how we deal with the enemies: worry, control, consume (buying things) and procrastinate
  • Filter the noise - if not you can't focus on the important relationships in your life. (God, others and self)
  • Practice the principals - do something about it
  • Connect to the source of joy and peace
Interest things into your life that bring joy and peace and you are still left empty. The shine wears off. Fill your life with ultimate joy and peace with the Lord and have everlasting joy and peace.

Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all that he has done. If you do this you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than wonderful than the human mind can understand.
