Leah's Here!

Yay! Leah's here! I can't believe it's been over 2 years since I have seen her! She is one of my college best friends and the last time I briefly saw her, I was 3 mths pregnant. So she has never met Reagan!

Thursday: I picked Leah up from the airport (30 minutes late). Reagan and I left for the airpot on time to pick her up (on time) and for some reason Reagan had a screaming fit in the car. I thought it was just because it was getting close to nap time so I kept on driving thinking she would just fall asleep. Halfway there I decided to pull over, take her out and just try to settle her. She never screams like that so I knew something really was wrong. I called Tache and asked her to meet me back at home, that I was going to turn around and take Reagan home. She screamed all the way back home, I gave her some milk and for about 15 minutes tried to lay her down. Thankfully she did, so I left to get Leah and Tache stayed and while Reagan slept. (Later I realized she was probably having really bad gas pains, poor girl.)

I got to the airport, got Leah, we headed through the In N Out drive through and then just came home. We didn't do anything else, just hung out, talked and I cooked dinner.

Friday: I decided to take Leah to do some shopping, we went to Fashion Valley Mall for a little while. She got some new things, we had lunch and came back home to have dinner with Darrin.

Later that night we went to the movies. I was really excited about going, the last time I saw a movie in the theater was with Darrin's mom last spring break, we saw the Proposal. So this was a treat for me! We couldn't decide whether to see Dear John or Valentine's Day. Leah read Dear John, but Valentine's Day got better reviews so we saw that one. We went to Starbucks before the movie to get a coffee and snuck our coffee in the theater. It was so fun and the movie was really cute!

Saturday: It rained all day. I was going to take her to the beach, but with all the rain we just stayed in. Reagan loves Leah, she had so much fun with her.

The rain stopped for a bit so we decided to get out at hit up Nordstroms Rack. However, everyone else must have had the same idea, it was so crowded and we weren't really in the mood to dig. We shopped for a bit and then just came home to wait on Darrin.

Once Darrin got home from work we went out for dinner. We were in the mood for pizza and who better than Chicago for pizza? We found a restaurant, Uno Chicago Grill and went out to try it. It was great!

Sunday: Yay! No more rain! We woke up to beautiful sunshine! We wanted to take Leah to the beach so we drove up to La Jolla and had breakfast at Cody's. We have never been there but it was so good. The view and the atmosphere was amazing, it was outside, right next to the water and just perfect. Afterwards we walked around for a bit and took her over to the beach. What a gorgeous day!

Thank you so much for coming Leah, we had a blast with you. You are so wonderful to Reagan and she loved playing with you. You are such a sweet friend and I really enjoyed spending the past few days together. I can't wait for you to come back! We love you - Erin and Reagan

Bath Time Fun

I bought Reagan these crayons for the bath a while ago and finally decided to let her use them. I wasn't sure if it was a good idea since right now she can only right on 'paper'. I was afraid it might confuse her with being able to write anywhere she wanted, but I was desperate. I do not like bath time, that is Darrin and Reagan's time together. It's my time to pick up and have some alone time, but one night a week Darrin has his meeting with his trainer so I have to do it. Usually she is in the bath anywhere from 30-45 min. They play and laugh and do all sorts of fun things in there, what they do, I have no idea. I never really go in there, I hear them talking and laughing, but I don't pay much attention. What I do know is, she loves bath time.

However, she noes not love bath time with me. After 5 minutes she was ready to get out. So, as I said before, I was desperate. I got out the new crayons and let her go to town!

Cheap Entertainment

We pretty much stayed this weekend in since we are all getting better. Darrin is now starting to feel a little sick so we didn't want to make it any worse. Here is the highlight of our Sunday. (notice Reagan's booster seat contraption made by Darrin: a phone book and a belt)

No wonder she loves him so much! He is so fun. Lately she has been extra clingy with Darrin. Last week she cried for the first time when he left.

Oh and we made these this morning. French Breakfast Puffs. Not bad, not healthy.

Poor Girl

Reagan is slowly feeling better. She still doesn't have a temperature, her cough and runny nose is a lot better but now it's her eyes. She has all this green stuff that comes out from her tear ducks. All day I just have to keep wiping it but overnight it becomes all crusty and it's hard to remove. You can see under her eyes are red and her top eyelashes are stuck together with all the crud.

We have spent most of the week at home hoping that by the weekend, her and I will both be back to normal. Looking forward to getting out and running around during the day! T G I F! Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Late Night Trip To The ER

Last night around 1am we decided to take Reagan to the ER. She has had a runny nose for about 2 weeks now, it was clear, she didn't have a fever and there were no other symptoms. However about 2 days ago it changed to green, low fewer and a deep cough. I called her pediatrician's office on Monday, but they were closed for President's day, they tried to squeeze her in on Tueday but there was nothing available. The fastest they could get her in was today at 9 am, which was fine, until last night while she was sleeping her cough became worse. I went in there around midnight, gave her some warm milk, (Darrin said if I wet her whistle she might feel a little better and it could help her cough.) felt her temperature and rocked her for a bit. I could tell she wasn't feeling well so I took her in our room to Darrin and we decided to go ahead and just take her in. We weren't sleeping anyways because we were worried about her, we didn't want it to worsen in her lungs to phenomena. We didn't know what it was, so to ease our mind we just went up there. After being there for almost 2 1/2 hours, taking chest x-rays and waiting she has an ear infection. Her x-rays came back normal (phew), her fever was now 99.6, they gave us some antibiotics and told us she just had alot of gooey gunk.

We got home around 4 am, poor Darrin had almost been up for 24 hours. He wakes up at 5:15 for work so he was running on empty. Then we were all out for the night/part of the day. Luckily this is really the first time Reagan has been sick. She has had a few clear runny noses but other than that we are lucky. This is her first ear infection, first trip to the ER and really the first time we have ever really worried about her being sick. Isn't it the worst feeling when your child is sick? Terrible.

On another note I was looking around at all the nurses/doctors last night just thinking about my sister. Not only do I think she is the greatest Sister ever, but I think she will be the greatest nurse ever. I am so proud of her for all her hard work. Becoming a nurse is a very tough job and is an extremely important role. It can be emotionally draining at times and I could see how it would be hard to leave "work" once you got home. Trying not to get to attached to a paitent, but being there for them and their family though whatever they may be going through. Being the care taker, the positve one, the patient one, holding their hand as they experience life. For most of us we do not have to live in that type of reality unless we are currently or have been through it. For her she lives everyday witnessing deaths, treatments, pain and devestation. Not that she will only handle negative situations, she will have good days and in those are the days she will remember why she chose to become a nurse. I have faith she will leave lasting impressions on people and impact everyone that is around her.

I am extremely proud of you Sister for all her hard work and determination. Way to go on your tests this week! 96 on Mental Health test and 92 on Med Surge. Not to mention your A last week. That is awesome!

Valentine's Weekend

Saturday night we just hung out. We tried to go to the gym but we forgot the Kids Club closed at 2 pm, so we just came back home. Our weekends aren't really weekends because Darrin works on Saturdays, they are more like a one quick day with him. But we always enjoy our Sunday, I think it makes us appreciate the day even more.

Then Sunday morning I woke up to Darrin sneaking back in bed. Even though it was only 7 am he was already wearing a t-shirt and shorts. I am not going to go any further but I will say the grocery store next to our apartment is open 24 hours and they do sell Valentine's stuff. (i.e. balloons, cards, flowers) With that being said, I got a very cute card, a bouquet of flowers and a balloon that sings if you touch it. After Reagan woke up we cooked a big breakfast and made a trip up to the gym. Later on we all took naps before we headed out to walk the beach. It was a beautiful day, high 70's and sun shine.

Notice her outfit?!?! I MADE IT!! It's my very first outfit ever!! It doesn't look perfect up close, but I did it!!

After Coranado we came home and cooked a nice dinner. Darrin grilled salmon, we had sweet potatoes, green beans and fixed my sister's famous beer margaritas. I can never find a drink I like, but these were really good! Here is the recipe. After dinner I let Reagan have a little bit of a cupcake that I made!

Here is what we got her for Valentine's. Since she is so into coloring we got her an easel. I have never heard of Melissa and Doug supplies before, but I love love their stuff. I didn't realize it said for ages 3 and up, oh well, I think she will still be able to enjoy it. She's pretty tall, maybe I will just have to get her a small step stool!
