Goodnight, I Love You

Four and a half years ago Darrin decided to take an internship with Zachary Construction that would lead him to working in Beijing China. He would be there for 6 months working on the new U.S. Embassy, which meant we would be apart for 6 months. Needless to say it was a long 6 months. We could only talk at 3:45 pm my time, which was 5:45 am his time, he was getting up for work (or just crawling in from the bars) and I would be in between classes. Somedays we wouldn't talk, other days just an email was all we could do.

I tried to think of something I could get Darrin to take with him to China so he could always think of me. I decided to get him a pillow and monogram the case saying, "good night, i love you." Since I wouldn't be able to tell him good night every night, he would have my pillow to remind him that I was thinking about him and I loved him.

Here is the pillow case now. It's barely hanging on, but I can't bring myself to take it off. It's on our bed and one of us sleeps with it every night. It looks pathetic, but I feel like it is so special that I can't take it off. Maybe I will just put a different pillow case on top of this one so it appears in good condition. Then I can keep the old one on but it won't look so ridiculous. Or I could try out my new sewing skills and just sew it back up!

Team Daddy!

Darrin joined an adult baseball (not softball, I have been informed they are totally different) team and today they had their very first game. Reagan and I went out there to help cheer him on and I think it's safe to say we might not make another one. While it was fun, being out there in the heat for 3 hours while Reagan wanted to run and play was so tiring. Not to mention these guys are serious! It wasn't a fun, relaxed game of baseball, it was intense and stressful! Old guys living young guys dreams I guess!

Darrin's team won and he had a blast, which was all that mattered. As soon as we got home he took 2 ibuprofen (because he was already hurting) and we all 3 took a nice long Sunday nap!

Flashback Friday

Oh how I loved Texas Roadhouse, that place was so good to me. I made so many great friends while working there, the money was awesome and I actually loved my job. Us girls had such a fun time working together, we laughed all the time and to this day we still crack the same inside jokes. I am so lucky to have met such wonderful people to share 6 years of working memories together with!

Sewing 101

Tonight I start my first sewing class! I have been wanting to sew for a long time, as you might have read in my previous blog, it was my new year's resolution this year to learn how. I just never found the right class/time/location that would actually work into our schedule. I found one that started last week, it's every Thursday night from 5-9 p.m. and lasts until the end of January. My friend Tache is going to watch Reagan from 4:30 to 6:30pm, then Darrin will pick her up for a date night just the two of them. Works out just perfect!

Wish me luck, I am really excited! Surely I will be able to learn something in 4 months! Hopefully I enjoy the class and it's what I have been looking for. I ordered this adorable circus fabric, you can't really see how cute it is from this picture, but it's really cute. I made it my goal to use this fabric and make Reagan a cute outfit for the circus next summer!

Wordless Wednesday

"Code Brown"

We got the term "code brown" from Tricia and Dustin and I am sure every parent out there, has at one point experienced what I am referring to. Just a few words will give you a clue as to what I might be talking about: naked child and bath tub = a code brown.

Last night Reagan was in the process of her usual bedtime routine. She was in the bath, Darrin is the one that gives her a bath at night, I am usually cleaning up from dinner or just taking a break from being around her all day. Since we ate dinner over at a friends, I didn't have any cleaning to do so I was hanging out in the bathroom with them while she played in the bath. For some reason I decided to wash my face and while I am washing my face, Darrin is sitting on the side of the tub talking and looking at me. I forget what we were talking about, but I see Reagan doing something out of the corner of my eye. I turned to look at her and said "What does she have in her hands!?!" Darrin looks down at her and says, "POOP!!"

Holy Crap, we were seconds away from letting our daughter eat poop! We all know that anything in their hands shortly after goes to their mouth, thankfully we were able to get her out before it was REALLY bad!

Darrin got her out, I washed off her hands in the sink, (remember my face was wet because I was washing mine at the time I noticed all this) Darrin finally gets it all out, takes all her toys out, runs hot water and soaps it all down, cleans the tub, then we put her back in and soap her all down. What a mess, not to mention we are now way her past bedtime!

Just thought I would start off the week with a laugh. I'm sure you other mom's know exactly what I am talking about and have been through this before. If not, someday it will happen to you!

Two Small Steps!!

Yesterday Reagan took two small steps on her own! Yay Reagan! Anytime we are out she wants to be down and walking, she holds on to my fingers, but she wants out of the stroller and down. It's kind of a pain, because it takes forever to get from point A to point B, but I know she is ready to walk so I let her.

Her balance has gotten so much better over the last week. She was standing up on her own so I decided to walk away and let her come to me. Of course, she didn't like it to much, but eventually she tried to take the steps. She fussed a bit, then took one step with each foot until she lost her balance and fell.

Can you just imagine what I looked like in the mall? I have my camera out and for about 10 minutes I am snapping pictures and calling for Reagan to come to me. I'm sure I looked like a complete idiot, but I was so excited she was finally going to try taking steps on her own! It seems she is more interested in trying to walk when we are out somewhere vs. being at home. Look how cute she looks, she is trying so hard!

Flashback Friday

One of the greatest most memorable moments of college (given you are an Aggie) is getting your Aggie Ring. Sister and I got ours semesters apart, but I remember how exciting the entire day was. From waking up at 5 am in order to get in line and pull a ticket, waiting all day and finally be able to pick it up, all the celebrations, Northgate filled with people ready to dunk their rings. Finally, just being able to wear the ring and feeling so proud. After getting my ring I remember feeling so accomplished, so excited I was a Senior, and that much closer to graduating. However, I never dunked my ring. Maybe I will dunk it next year with Uncle Lance, what do you think, you and me dunking our rings together next year?

In Case You Haven't Noticed....

The BOWS are back in town!! Finally I can put Reagan's bows back in her hair! I have been waiting for her hair to grow in so I could add my favorite accessory to her outfits. I think she looks so cute with her bows and I am so glad they are back!

And she is getting so BIG!!

Introducing the NEW and IMPROVED Reagan Marie Snider!

We got Reagan's glasses and just like we thought, she did NOT love them. As soon as I put them on her, she would take them right off, that's why I didn't get very good pictures. (I should have turned off the flash so she didn't have a reflection off the lenses, but at this point, I didn't want to frustrate her even more.) I know it will take sometime, and I am okay with that, little bit at a time is better than nothing at all. Here are some other pictures from the rest of the day, non-glasses. She is really into books right now, she loves to turn the pages!
