And We're Off!

Wish us luck! We are flying out this morning to St. Louis, then driving to meet my family in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. We will spend 4 days in Iowa then drive back to St. Louis to spend 5 days there. After that, I will fly home to Dallas with Darrin's mom and Darrin will come back to San Diego. I am so ready for some family and friend time I can hardly stand it! We are ready for a nice long family vacation!

Reagan's First Attempt at Dance Class

Today Reagan had her very first dance class. I am not sure who was more excited, me or her. I think I have been thinking about this since day since finding out she was a girl. I had called around and most places started dance at 2 years, but she allowed Reagan to go ahead and start since her birthday is in August.

We went and checked out the studio and it was so adorable. She would be in the princess room. There were pink and white stripes painted on the wall, a princess castle painted on one wall and 2 big pink chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, I was in love. We bought her 2 leotards, tap shoes, ballet shoes and tights. (and an elmo doll that she HAD to have)

The class started at 9:45am and there were 3 other moms that were joining class along with Reagan, I met them at My Gym. Their girls are the same age as Reagan so we decided to all give the Dance/Jazz/Tap class a chance. Needless to say it was a HUGE flop. The instructor was way to serious, not fun at all. She was definitely a professional but I don't think she realize these girls were 2, not 5. She was very strict, the music was boring and Reagan could have cared less about what she was doing. (and honestly I don't blame her, I thought she was a little too serious as well.)

After class we all left and tried to get our money back for enrollment and for the month since none of the girls enjoyed the class. We just told them we didn't think they were old enough or ready for it, even though I wanted to say it wasn't fun at all and she was way to strict. I also tried returning some of the attire I bought that was required for the class. I spent 150 dollars on all of her stuff, to which they only gave me store credit in return. Seriously? What am I going to do with 100 dollars of store credit to a place with nothing but dance attire?! Nothing! Unless I want to sit out and wait for someone to spend the money and say, " Hi, I have 100 dollars in store credit, can you use my store credit and give me the cash for what you are buying?" - Ugh, NO not doing that! Or spend the money on TuTu's that she will never wear.

Anyways, I guess I had a little to high of hopes for Reagan entering dance. Or maybe that was just the wrong place. Looks like we will have to just wait and give it a try a little later on, unless they want to start playing some Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber in there, then we'll be back!

(looks like she has the pointed toes down!)

4th of July!

Last year we spent the 4th on Coranado Beach and we had a really good time so we decided to try it again this year. It's the closest beach to us and is one of the most popular beaches for the firework shows, so we went out there with Tim, Tache and Nicky.

My little sparkler

I was a little nervous about how Reagan would do in the sand. Sometimes she will get knee deep and covered in it and others she doesn't want anything to do with it. Today she did great. She loved playing with the ball in the sand and had a great time with all her toys!

Covered in sand a cheetos!

She was a MESS!

We had a great time, however it was just a little chilly. When the sun was out it was perfect, but if the sun went behind the clouds it was cold. Around 4 o'clock we all had jackets on and by 6 we just couldn't take the cold anymore so we left. Which means we missed the fireworks, but we had been out there all day so we were ready to go ahead and head back home. By the time we go home, unloaded everything from the car, took showers, got into our pj's then cuddled up to watch the Macy's firework show, Reagan feel asleep.

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and 4th of July!

Shit Happens

Let me just start off by saying I am not in any way shape or form looking forward to potty training. I don't think there is going much worse than going through that. I would like to think Reagan would be one of those miracle kids who trains in no time, but realistically I am not getting my hopes up.

Today Reagan took off her diaper herself and was running around the house for a little bit without it on. I decided, "hey why don't I let her wear her panties for a little bit." I knew that she had just gone potty so it would be a little while before she went again. So I put them on her and she was off busy playing with something in the living room. No more than 10 minutes go by and I hear "the noise." Like a deep breathing, grunting sound. I thought, "no way is it what I think." I look over the counter from the kitchen and sure enough, she was going #2.

I couldn't scream, "Reagan noooooooooo!" She already has issues with going #2, so I didn't want to make things any worse. I just had to wait, sit there and watch her poop in her panties. And let me tell you, it was the grossest thing I think I have had to do so far as a Mom. Of course, you can't just pull tabs off panties to get them off, you have to slide them off. Which causes a complete mess. It ended up being on Reagan's leg, the changing table and on her mirror above the changing table. (I guess somehow it transfered from her leg to the mirror)

Finally I get it all cleaned up, get a diaper on Reagan go over to the mirror and notice there was poop on my neck!! Yuck!!

What a terrible idea that lead to a complete mess. I do not, do NOT want to potty train! Not at all!
